Lee prove too strong for Fareham Blue

LEE on the Solent ran out convincing winners against Fareham Blue in the latest round of Palmerston Cup fixtures.

Richard Horler (Fareham) and Martin Ellis (Lee) began the match, with the score 22-1 to Lee after eight ends.

Fareham gained four shots on the next two ends, but the game swung back to Lee who finished 35-7 winners.

Dave Holland (Fareham) and Lee's Dave Heather had a ding-dong battle on rink two, with only one shot between them after 13 ends.

The hosts gained five shots on the next, but Lee won the last four ends to claim a 22-15 victory.

On rink three, the visitors' Pete Gentry won the first 11 ends against Keith Fleming, before eventually running out 34-8 winners.

Fareham Green enjoyed a 79-36 victory over Banister Gold.

Lee Cunningham got the ball rolling for Fareham after he picked up a 29-11 win against Dorren Harris.

Rink two saw Banister's Pete Lebbern and Fareham's Alan Leppard go head-to-head.

And it was the latter who made the best start, with four shots gain on the third end followed by a six-shot gain on the fourth.

Fareham fought back but were unable to wrestle control from Banister, who ran out 22-14 winners.

In the final rink, Cyril Friend (Fareham) dominated from start to finish against Roger Honey (Banister) to secure a comfortable 36-3 win.
