Jo’kers turned on the style to finish runners-up in the Sevens & The City Party Cup at Allianz Park – home of Saracens rugby union club.

There were 35 netball teams in action, with the competition being run by HC Tournaments.

Jo’kers, from division two of the Gosport & Fareham League, and Drew Petites, fielding a mixture of players from several members of the Gosport & Fareham Netball Association, took part.

The party cup consisted of two groups, each playing in a round-robin competition.

Drew Petites were runners-up in group A and Jo’kers ended up group B winners.

That meant they faced off in the semi-finals.

Jo’kers won by three goals and booked their place in the final against Staffordshire outfit Ooosshh.

Despite great efforts from Jo’kers defenders Hayley Townsend and Carol Iggleden, there was no stopping the regional players from Ooosshh getting 98 per cent on their shooting stats and therefore Jo’kers came out runners-up.

There were also rugby and crossfit teams in action in a variety of different events.

HC Tournaments organiser Dave Hartwell said: ‘I was really pleased with how the day went as it was very well attended and the weather was kind.’

Fellow organiser Jo Coker added: ‘This is our biggest adult weekend tournament to date, as we mainly cater for junior weekends, with around only three small adult ones.

‘We had some lovely feedback with how well organised the day was and I’m already looking forward to partnering up next year with David Strettle (Sevens & The City organiser) and Matt Stevens (England rugby player) for an even bigger event.’
