Mobys are feeling right at home in Gosport & Fareham League division four.

The former Krazee Kats outfit are determined to make the most of their first-ever campaign in the fourth tier of the competition.

And captain Nicole Dugan has tipped her team to hold their own – after they won the division five title last term with 12 wins and two defeats.

The skipper said: ‘Being in division four is bizarre as it is the highest we have ever been.

‘But we are hopeful we will win a few matches!

‘We were really pleased with last season, only losing two games.

‘We were really surprised with how well we did and we really enjoyed it.

‘It was a hard-contested season, so we were chuffed we won.

‘We have just had a little adjustment in the team this season – with a new goal-attack Alex Allen.

‘She has played for us for the last few weeks and is already proving to be a great addition.

‘The rest of us have been playing together for a good few years and we really enjoy the camaraderie.’

It has been an impressive rise for Mobys, who narrowly avoided the drop into the seventh tier when they finished third-bottom of division six back in the winter of 2010.

After a midtable finish during that summer, they began their ascent in 2011.

A runner-up spot in division six saw them earn promotion to the fifth tier, where they remained until now.

‘I have been captain now for about six years, maybe longer,’ said Dugan.

‘I’m very dedicated to the team and want us to do the best we can. It’s been really great seeing all the players grow, especially Jodie Plumridge and Lucy Ouvry.

‘They have become amazing assets to the team.

‘I wouldn’t be without any of them – especially Claire Hudson and Alice Cunningham, who are simply amazing.’

The team are sponsored by – and take their name from – children’s indoor play centre Mobys in Fareham.

Dugan added: ‘Mobys are really supportive and always interested in the matches, which is great!

‘They even have a notice board where the team is featured, giving details about how we are doing.

‘They have also given us the money to pay for our new kit.

Mobys play Gosport Borough Devils when they return from the Easter break on Wednesday, April 23 (8.30pm).
