Starlets shine at Cams Hill

Juniors have been thriving in the summer season at Cams Hill School.

With some great netball being played by the youngsters, the spectators have been out in force and the atmosphere is very positive.

In the under-12s, Fareham Fireflys White beat Gosport Gators Jade 26-6.

Pheobe Jones, for Jade, has really improved her skills and was voted players’ player.

Gators Emerald, who are eyeing the title, fared better and won their game against Fireflys Yellow 19-4.

Team Force III were on form and smashed Fireflys Jade 40-0.

Team Force II also won their game – with a slightly less emphatic 23-8 scoreline against Fireflys Pink.

Kiera Hooker played her socks off for Pinks, as did Liv Rodrigues for Team Force.

In the under-14s competition, Fireflys Silver lost 23-8 to Gators Green.

Nancy Barfield, of Gators, is really developing some fantastic netball skills, watching the ball and taking unbelievable interceptions.

Shooting Stars B had a disappointing 22-13 loss to Fireflys Blue – but kept hold of the halfway point.

In the under-16s division, Gators Black narrowly missed out in a 20-19 defeat to Team Force.

Gators led all the way into the last quarter when Team Force picked up the pace, making a comeback and overtaking their rivals with the final goal.

Libby Digweed played the mid-court for Team Force well, picking up loose balls and weak passes.

Fireflys Orange also tipped the balance in an amazing last quarter as they came from five goals down to win 17-16.

The defence really pushed hard, with Amy Wood really standing out for Orange.

She played against Gators shooter Sophie Hulse, who also played a blinder and always moves so well in the shooting circle.

This forced Wood to really up her own game which, unfortunately for Gators, she did.

Shooting Stars A lost 29-14 to title rivals Fireflys Black. Lana Richards, for Stars, took players’ player.
