Donna Jackson has spoken of her pride in the progress of Shooting Stars III.
Having won division one last season – suffering just a single defeat along the way – Stars are now flying high in the second tier.
Paige Blake, Nicola Ford and Jo Huntley have all moved up a division to help their Stars II club-mates.
But Joedy Pritchard, Nicola Ogilvy and Emma Hughes have returned to the fray this term, while Michelle Curry plays when needed.
Jackson has been delighted with the team’s form, which has included wins over Cowplain Cruisers, Jelly Babies, Unity and second-placed Falcons.
And the skipper reckons the future is bright for her side.
Jackson, who umpires every week, said: ‘The girls in the team are great and we not only play to win but we have a great time doing it.
‘Apart from three games early on in the season, we have not lost any other matches and we have recorded some tremendous scorelines.
‘We played with six in the games we lost, so feel we would have claimed a win with a full squad.
‘We have a strong defence with Joedy Pritchard making a return to netball and she links up well with another returning player – Nicola Ogilvey.
‘Hannah Munden steps into defence if needs be.
‘Court players Aimiee Rawding, Cassie Moore and Natalie March all give 100 per cent every week and link up well with whoever is donning the centre bib between them and Hannah.
‘We are lucky to have a choice of three shooters – Yvonne Moorecroft, Emma Hughes and myself.
‘Whatever the combination we gel quickly and some of the movement in the circle at times is impressive to watch.
‘But even if you know you have done something wrong or made a mistake, the rest of the team is still behind you – despite the banter.
‘We have had some tougher games this season – which you expect moving up through the divisions – but we are holding our own.’
Shooting Stars are in the process of trying to recruit sponsors for the club as a whole.
They have all done very well this season with some great wins and promotions both in the Gosport & Fareham and Portsmouth leagues.
The club train every Wednesday at South Downs College and welcome new faces to join them any time.
They compete in all local leagues as well as the Hampshire League and in division two of the Netball South Regional League.
Shooting Stars are always looking for umpires locally.
