No Gold rush for Banister against Red Devils

Eastleigh Red Devils proved too strong for Banister Gold in the latest round of Palmerston Cup matches.

The triumphant Devils' first rink, skipped by Derrick Walker, were ahead from start to finish against Mark Barnes & Co.

And they ran out comfortable 29-11 winners.

Banister skip Pete Lebbern raced into a 10-2 lead after eight ends against Mike Barrett in rink two.

But they were unable to score again, allowing Eastleigh to win 24-10.

On rink three, Banister skip Dorren Harris was under the cosh from the start by Robby Bines & Co.

And despite a run of shots in the middle of the game, they lost out 21-9.

In the end, Eastleigh ran out 74-30 winners.

Lee on the Solent endured a disastrous end to their game against Prieire De Sion.

For two thirds of the match, little separated the teams '“ but it was De Sion who celebrated at the end thanks to a 57-38 shot victory.

On the first rink, Lee, skipped by Pete Gentry, were up against Mike Elliott & Co.

Lee led 13-9 after 11 ends, but back came De Sion to claim a 22-13 win.

On rink two, Prieire's Adrian Snook led Martin Ellis from start to finish to record a 16-11 triumph.

Little separated Roly Bloy and Dave Heather in rink three, with the score 11-11 after 12 ends.

But it was Prieire De Sion's Bloy who won the last third to claim a 19-14 success.
