Masson struck from a penalty corner and then Vicky Field intercepted and squared the ball to Hannah Oldham to rifle home for 3-1.

Fareham started the second period well and Oldham, on the reverse stick, got her second goal of the game on 40 minutes.

Amanda Hilsdon netted the fifth from a penalty corner, before Jo Madeley wrapped up the points with another effective penalty corner strike.

Coach Steve Lemon praised the way his team played in the second half after a slow start.

He said: ‘It wasn’t our best first-half performance but two late goals put us in a good position going into the break.

‘We were much better in the second half.

‘It maintains our winning form and we’ll have to see if we can keep it going to the end of the season.’

The result gives them a seven-point cushion over fourth-placed Lewes.

Fareham have a break next weekend.

They will resume away to Eastbourne on February 27.

That was after Havant keeper Mel Insall had made two successive saves.

The score remained 1-0 at the break.

But Havant scored a much-deserved equaliser in the second period.

Nicky Atkins’ injection to Rae Allen took a deflection and ended up in the Woking net.

However, Mark Robinson’s side couldn’t capitalise on their chances.

And it was Woking who took the spoils eight minutes from time with a reverse-stick shot just inside the D.
