Cat Evans hits a hat-trick in gr-eight victory for Havant Ladies - struggles continue for the men

Six of the goals arrived in what was an impressive first-half showing.

Two more goals for the hosts followed in the next three minutes.

First, Izzy Parry picked up a cross at the far post to fire home then Charlotte Gammon turned went from provider to scorer, finishing off one of Havant’s many first-half penalty corners.

The home side had to wait another 10 minutes to extend their lead as Cat Evans converted after a quick free-hit outside the circle.

Cat Evans kept her composure on 25 minutes, rounding the goalkeeper and adding a fifth.

Aldershot converted a penalty corner of their own two minutes later and this was followed by Gammon slipping the ball past the visiting goalkeeper on 32 minutes to bring the seven-goal first half to a close.

Sarah Murray finished off a broken down penalty corner with a high-rasping shot to grab Havant's seventh goal.

To their credit, Aldershot pulled another goal back on 50 minutes to make the score 7-2.

But Havant had the final say when Evans completed her hat-trick after converting from short range.

n Havant were dumped out of the National Cup by the UK Armed Forces following a 4-3 defeat - despite leading 3-0 inside the opening 15 minutes.

n Havant men’s poor run of results continued as they suffered a fourth defeat in a row after going down 2-1 against Southgate.

The game was delayed for 30 minutes as a short hail storm covered the pitch white, but thankfully it was all clear for things to get under way.

Havant fell behind inside a minute when Matthew Allister struck before Max Garner added a second on 10 minutes.

Craig Duffy handed the visitors a lifeline on 61 minutes nut they could not grab a leveller despite applying the pressure late on.
