CHLOE White reckons beating world number eight Suzie Opacic for the first time was a ‘stepping stone’ in her snooker career.

The landmark victory came in the group stages of the English Women’s Championship at Barratts Sports Bar, Northampton.

White also offered further proof of her improvement this season by taking a frame off both finalists.

The 18-year-old from Havant, ranked 21st on the World Women’s Snooker Tour, lost 2-1 to world number four Rebecca Kenna and world number seven Emma Parker.

Parker beat Kenna in the final.

White overcame Harriet Haynes 2-1, Jan Hughes 2-0 and Opacic 2-1 on the final black to finish third in a tough group of six.

She said: ‘I was very happy with this result and felt as though it was a stepping stone, beating someone of Suzie’s ability.’

Jamie Wilson has secured his first junior snooker league title at Waterlooville Sports Bar.

The 16-year-old, conceding a 40-point handicap start in every match, finished the 20-week Monday season eight points clear of Ryan Kneller.

Kneller had never been higher than fifth in Division 1 previously.

Aaron Wilson took the honours in Division 2, ahead of Ryan Wilson.

Rhys Pearce is Division 3 champion in his debut season.

A new league starts on Monday.

Two days later, Kneller continued his unbeaten start to the ninth season of the Wednesday Junior Snooker League.

Jamie Wilson’s 83 was the highest of the second week’s 11 notable breaks.

And Division 1 leader Pearce took the honours by one frame from Tyler Rodgers in the Junior Pool League.
