Four-goal Ferret stars as US Portsmouth maintain 100 per cent start to new Hampshire League season

US Portsmouth maintained their superb start to the new Hampshire League Division 2 season with a 9-0 drubbing of Hamble.

It was their third successive win, following last season’s promotion, and they are one of four clubs still boasting a 100 per cent record.

Jack Ferret struck twice in the first 12 minutes with Jack Green and Elliott Ferret adding further goals inside the opening half-hour.

Jack Ferret completed his hat-trick before half-time before adding a fourth in the second half.

Elliott Ferret grabbed his second with Si Massiah and James Dudley completing the rout.

US keeper Matt Ketch was a spectator for most of the game, but was called on to make a couple of saves.

US host Alton - another side with a 100 per cent start - at home this weekend.

US 2nds are top of Hampshire Division 7 after a second successive win.

Mike Hookway struck twice as US opened up a 2-0 lead against Alton 4ths

After Alton had reduced the arrears from a penalty, awarded for a foul by keeper Ben Organ, Craig Bryant restored the two-goal lead.

Hookway completed his hat-trick late on.

Dee Baker struck the only goal against Fleet & Ewshot as US Portsmouth Ladies 1sts moved up to second in Division 3 of the Hampshire League.

She netted in the second half from a short corner, eventually forcing the ball in after her initial shot had been saved.
