‘Great vibe’ at Petersfield RFC as leaders claim crucial victory over nearest Hampshire Premier title rivals Alton
The win means Petersfield have opened up a seven-point lead at the top, though Alton have a game in hand.
Coach Jim Pearce was delighted with the result and performance.

'It was also evident in the large support we had on the sidelines at Alton.

Hide AdThe visitors took the bold decision to start the game kicking up the slope and within the opening few minutes Nick Blumlein kicked an easy penalty.
In the first quarter the pattern of the match was set with the indomitable Field defence impressing.
At the same time, when they got the chance, the visitors looked to punch holes with their abrasive backs and driving mauls.
Petersfield were rewarded with the first try at the end of the first quarter being - a penalty try after scrum half Finlay Sloan was taken out without the ball.

Hide AdAnother try followed before half-time through lock forward Franko Tomic.
At the start of the second half Blumlein added a dropped goal.
Victory was sealed when Jordan Hunter received a superb off-load from Greg Jansen with Blumlein adding the conversion.
The visitors had number eight Tom Whitehouse sin-binned ten minutes from the end.
Despite this, continued dogged defence stopped Alton in their tracks.
