'We recognise the increased uncertainty that the COVID-19 variant of the coronavirus is causing and would like to reassure you that we are keeping the situation under review on a regular basis and will issue updates as and when the situation changes,’ a statement said.

'At present we have not cancelled any Club events or restricted access to the Clubhouse and do not currently plan to do so unless the situation worsens significantly or if subsequent advice is received from Public Health England or the Government.

'We recognise that there are a number of club tours planned for the end of the season and in the current climate we need to consider that these may be subject to postponement or cancellation.

'We advise that all organising parties prepare for this and inform participants that this is a possibility.

'Currently the 111 support health line is over-stretched and it is not recommended to call them.

'The position is evolving all the time and we will endeavour to keep you updated as anything changes, but in the meantime we would encourage you to refer to the latest information and advice on this matter from the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England.'
