Jenny at the double as Portsmouth go close to shocking Hampshire Women’s Premier Division leaders New Forest

The hosts struck a late leveller in an exciting 3-3 draw - only the third time in 19 games that New Forest had failed to win.

Portsmouth, likely to finish third in the table, fell behind on 10 minutes before quickly levelling with a short corner routine which ended with Sam Hassall scoring.

After New Forest had retaken the lead, Jenny Turvey grabbed a second equaliser before half-time.

And it was Turvey again who struck to put Portsmouth ahead for the first time.

The hosts levelled through a late short corner, but it was a confidence-boosting result for Portsmouth.

Goalkeeper Helen Perriam was voted player of the match as fourth-placed Portsmouth 3rds were beaten 2-1 at home by second-placed Haslemere in Hampshire Division 4.

Mandy Wood had put Portsmouth into an early lead.

Portsmouth 4ths slipped into the bottom two in Hampshire Division 5 after losing 2-1 to fellow strugglers Salisbury 5ths.

They conceded two first-half goals and could only manage a Michelle Hughes consolation.

Portsmouth’s player of the match Isabel Slack was left with a headache after a thunderous collision with a Salisbury opponent.

Florence Di Marco grabbed Portsmouth 5ths’ reply as they conceded a late winner to go down 2-1 to second-placed Fleet and Ewshot 4ths in Hampshire Division 7.

The city club’s consolation came from a short corner early in the second half, an injection from Freya Main seeing Gemma English slip the ball to Di Marco to smash in.
