Games between the two sides are always keenly fought with little to choose between them.

Havant won the past two meetings - both at Hooks Lane - by just one point.

But Medway are a particularly difficult side to beat on their own patch.

In fact, Havant coach Will Knight is yet to enjoy a win at the Kent side's ground.

It could also be a pivotal weekend in the battle for the title, with the top four sides up against each other.

‘This is a massive weekend in the context of the contest for the title,’ said Knight.

‘The top of the league could look a lot different by Saturday evening.

‘Apart from our game, league leaders Westcombe Park are at third-placed Camberley.

‘Both games are too close to call.

‘One thing already proved is that in our league you can't afford to take anything for granted.

‘Medway will present us with a tough challenge because they are a good side.

‘They have consistently over the years been at the top end of our league.

‘If they win, they will close the gap on us but if we get a result then we can pull away from them.

‘It is up to us to go there and get the result we want.’

Havant will travel with some confidence having started the year with three excellent wins.

They are also boosted by the news that captain Joel Knight is expected to pass a fitness test.

Andrea Pozzi returns to the front row in place of the injured Jack Ward-Golden.

Harrison Young picked up a knock in the last game so Will Brock comes into the second row.

The rotation policy sees Will Owen come into the back-row and Jake Hewitt starting at scrum-half.

‘One thing we are benefiting from is consistency of selection, which is something we didn't have at the start of last season,’ said Knight.

‘It is important going to a place like Medway that you have your best players available.’
