The hosts had won their opening two league games but had no answers to a superb Havant display which set up a 5-1 victory.

After a first short corner routine broke down, Havant made no mistake with their second - Cat Evans playing the ball square, taking the return and calmly lifting a shot over the keeper.

It ws 2-0 soon after when Alice Worsley nicked the ball just inside the Winchester half, drove at the defence and set up Poppy Herbert for a fine finish.

Worsley grabbed a third, after Evans had picked her out at the far post, and Herbert grabbed her second just before the break.

Havant couldn’t maintain the intensity in the second half, with central defenders Louisa Taylor and Alice Lane kept busier as Winchester attacked.

After the hosts had netted later on, Verena Grave capped a player of the match display with a mazy dribble and finish.

Third-placed Havant host fourth-placed Southampton this weekend.
