Some clubs, particularly those on the Isle of Wight, have decided to wait a bit longer before committing to competitive play, and so a reduced programme will feature 74 teams rather than the usual 120-plus.

All matches will be played under strict Covid-safe conditions with clubs, teams and players observing and implementing the very latest LTA and Government advice, guidelines and safe practices.

All clubs in the area have re-opened their courts and are enjoying a high level of participation from existing members and new players.

Interest in tennis has greatly increased since the start of the first lockdown.

It is hoped that taking the first steps to ease clubs, teams and players back to league tennis, albeit on a restricted basis, will help clubs build on this momentum and that confidence in participation will grow.

Weather permitting, the first matches will be on Saturday at Alverstoke, The Avenue, Havant and Lee-on-Solent, with others following on Sunday at Lee, Fishbourne, Wickham and Rowlands Castle.

The league committee hope that all players remain healthy, sensible and safe and that they enjoy some competitive tennis along the way.
