Portsmouth Ladies teams find their form in front of goal in free-scoring weekend

Portsmouth Ladies bounced back from their first defeat of the season in some style with a 12-2 drubbing of Blandford & Sturminster Newton.

Jenni Turvey-Warnes and Katie Paulson-Pond both grabbed hat-tricks while Zoe Wimshurst and Sofia Gomez grabbed two apiece.

Jen Smith and Katie Spooner round off the scoring as Portsmouth demolished Blandford, who only fielded 10 players.

n Portsmouth 2nds came flying out of the traps with the clear aim to follow on from their emphatic win last week.

And they achieved what they set out to do, clinching a crushing 9-1 win in the New Forest.

Hayley Armstrong was in fine touch in front of goal, putting away a hat-trick.

Fiona Bingham bagged two but was denied the chance to net her first treble for the club.

Laura Ryan was also at the double while Becky Clay and Amanda Owens completed the scoring as the 2nds maintained their fine form.

n There was also a victory for Portsmouth ladies' 3rd team as they ran out 4-2 victors at Romsey.

Despite taking some time to adjust to the bouncy pitch they went in leading 2-0 at the break.

Romsey battled back to draw level at 2-2 but Portsmouth regrouped to come away with a 4-2 triumph.

n Portsmouth's 4th side came out fighting having beaten Salisbury 4ths in their meeting earlier in the season.

However, they were unable to achieve a league double with the visitors coming away with a 3-1 victory.

Michelle Hughes had fired Portsmouth into an early lead and they looked confident.

But home goalkeeper Sam Harvey was soon picking the ball out of her net as Salisbury equalised.

Portsmouth were caught unaware just before the break as they fell behind.

Salisbury then added another after the restart to round off a 3-1 victory.

n The ladies 5th team travelled to Hamble with a full squad of 16 to choose from.

Jess Gregory-Perry soon found Verity Mcstay, who netted the first goal for the visitors.

Hamble grabbed an equaliser before Romily Farrow struck the winner as Portsmouth wrapped up a 2-1 victory.
