South Hants Volleyball Club welcomes surge of interest in 2020

Junior volleyball across the country has seen a surge of interest in 2020 largely thanks to the popular sports anime series ‘Haikyuu’.

South Hants, based at Horndean Technology College, has benefited from this increasing interest and have seen numbers grow to such an extent there is now a waiting list.

Thankfully, the Covid-19 regulations allowed for under-18s to continue to play organised indoor sports.

With this in mind, once the November lockdown came to an end, South Hants Junior Volleyball Club hosted their own tournament for players within the club.

In addition, the player with the best Christmas hat received a mini volleyball.

Division winners: Andrei Toader, Maria Gora, Paolo Skinner and Melissa Willett.

Division Runners up: Kiera Delahay, Sophia Whiting, Antek Gora and Tilly Hutton.

Best hat: Maria Gora.

Medals were awarded by Ben Osborne, who started out at South Hants and is now a member of the England Senior Men’s squad.
