Rachel Clay made it a triathlon double as she won the second WKB Nissan Waterlooville Triathlon.

The Portsmouth Triathletes star backed up her victory in the recent sprint triathlon in Southsea with another fine display.

Clay finished the standard distance race in a time of 2hr 4min 15sec.

Host club Portsmouth Triathletes secured all the top three spots in the ladies’ race on Sunday.

Bex Hughes came home second (2.13.00), with Laura Allen third (2.20.32).

World champion triathlon and duathlon super veteran (over 50 age-category) Sarah Barrett finished the race in an impressive 2.23.13.

Boe Harper, from David Lloyd, Port Solent, won the standard distance men’s race in a time of 1.53.15.

Portsmouth Triathletes duo Andy Lovell (second in 1.56.21) and Andy Wheeler (third in 1.57.50) chased hard.

The first of the waves of triathletes set off on the pool-based swim leg at 7am.

The blistering bike leg took riders from Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre up and over the South Downs to East and West Meon and back before the last leg of the triathlon was an enthralling 10km run out towards Purbrook Heath, finishing at the leisure centre.

WKB Nissan, Alexandra Sports, Swim Stop and Horizon Waterlooville Leisure Centre all provided great support for the event.
