Sporting St Clares have made a great start in their bid for promotion from Portsmouth League division two.

A 7-3 victory over Portsmouth Black was their third consecutive triumph.

Tim Hampton recorded a hat-trick, while there was a double for Graham Wiggins and a Dave Morgan single.

Rivals Cowplain Neptune dropped their first points at Knowle Tenacity.

Steve Long was unbeaten for Neptune and Dave Wiles won once. But for Tenacity, John Cooper and Barry Diaper won two apiece and Dave Mcintosh got another.

Richard Stone’s treble helped Phoenix Saturn draw with Avenue Puffins.

Mike Turner added a double, while Brian Greenwood (2), Mike James and Ricky Hensman responded for Puffins.

Chris Bone and Neil Landsman both hit doubles as Cowplain Alexandra drew with Knowle Green.

John Wildig recorded a maximum for green as David Edge and Pete Newman also weighed in.

In the top tier, Portsmouth Orange defeated Soberton & Newtown 7-3 with hat-tricks for Adam Proszko and Miki Sinanan. Bill Moody, Pete Woodacre and Richard Billings landed wins in reply.

Navy beat Generation Kings 6-4 thanks to an Alex Rorke treble. Mike Rhodes repied with a brace. Kings bounced back with a 7-3 win over PGC Blue, though. Rhodes bagged a hat-trick.

Blue fared better against Generation Jacks, winning 6-4 after a Mike Gibbs treble.

Generation Aces crushed Knowle Rovers 10-0 with their side of Charlie Chils, Letitia McMullan and Billy Ho.

Division three promotion hopefuls Eastoke Cougars beat Phoenix Satellites 8-2 with hat-tricks from Duncan Poole and Ken Chipperfield.

PW Blue beat Portsmouth Red 7-3 with doubles from Neil Lockton, Pete Slatter and John Manuel.

Cowplain Cobras thrashed St Clares Grasshoppers 10-0.

Avenue Dodos edged out PGC Green 6-4 with a treble by Tony Dummer. Dodos also defeated Portsmouth Red 7-3.

PW Red beat club-mates PW Black 8-2 with a maximum by Phil Beal.
