It was a mixed weekend for Portsmouth in the British League Championship.

The team were first in action against current leaders Whitworth Academy and suffered a 5-3 defeat.

They rallied well and hit back to beat Ravenscroft 6-2.

Then on Sunday they were beaten 5-3 by Wymondham and drew 4-4 with Ormesby.

The Portsmouth team featured Adam Fuzes, Adeoye Adewale, Martin Matuzevicius, Jacob Goss and Joseph Goss.

After eight matches played this season Portsmouth are fifth in the table with three wins, two draws and three defeats.

The Portsmouth club would like to thank you to sponsors Silver Palm Food and Expressive Audio.

They will be playing the next round of matches on the October 13 and October 14.

It has been a period of adjustment for the team and head coach Adam Proszko who had to recruit some new players after some key men left when they were denied a place in the premier due to a problem with the funding for their lighting upgrade.

On day one of the season they lost 5-3 to King Fisher and then drew 4-4 with Horsham Blades.

The second day saw the team more united and they showed great spirit and determination. They won both matches 6-2 against against Glasgow and BATTS.

Proszko is confident the team will go on to have a good season after showing plenty of promise already.
