RISING-STAR Letitia McMullan has been crowned England Schools’ individual under-16 champion.
The 16-year-old, who attends Henry Cort Community College, in Fareham, secured the title at the prestigious competition in Tipton, West Midlands.
She has now been selected to represent England Schools in the upcoming internationals next month.
McMullan said: ‘It feels really good.
‘I was really hoping to get to the final but didn’t expect anything, I just wanted to take it one game at a time.’
Meanwhile, Portsmouth’s Martin Matuzevicius, 18, also performed superbly to reach the final of the under-19 boys competition.
He beat Billy Forster 3-2 in his semi-final but then lost out to Tom Jarvis 3-0 to finish runner-up.
Matuzevicius said: ‘I’m really happy – it was a great tournament, probably my best.
‘My aim was to get to the semi-finals but reaching the final was above my expectations.’
