It’s going to be an exciting opening contest for the 22-year-old, from Fareham, who takes on her former club Team Bath tonight (8pm).

She made the switch to defending Superleague champions Surrey Storm during the close season.

It has been a good experience, working in a new set-up, and she is enjoying learning from Storm coach Tamsin Greenway.

‘It’s been really exciting for me,’ said Parsons.

‘Expectations are high, the team won it last year and we want to do well again.

‘The players have welcomed me into the squad and been really friendly.

‘Our coach Tamsin is great and I feel like I am at home.

‘It’s a different experience.

‘They play completely differently to the way Team Bath play.

‘I’m adding new stuff to my repertoire.

‘It will help me continue to improve.

‘I’m in a new team, with new surroundings, and I’m looking forward to doing the best I can.’

The trip back to Team Bath tonight will be a tough start.

Parsons, however, will have a good knowledge of the opposition and believes that will be beneficial.

She added: ‘Most of the Bath line-up will be players I used to be in the team with.

‘It’s probably a good thing, really.

‘I know what their line-up will look like – I have that inside knowledge and I know them and the way they play.

‘Having said that, they might try to change things around.’

Although Surrey won the title last season, Parsons does not believe they will be marked out as favourites this time.

The club have decided not to bring in players from overseas.

In contrast, some big-name signings from abroad have joined rival teams.

Parsons said: ‘I think we have gone kind of under the radar with the imports each team have.

‘We haven’t got any imports. The club are looking to build a squad with a strong relationship, blooding the next generation of players coming through.’
