Jack Pettit is celebrating national glory.

The West Wittering teenager won the 2014 National Youth Wave Championship held at Gwithian beach in Cornwall.

The Bishop Luffa School student, 15, picked up the trophy in the last round of the British Windsurfing Association (BWA) competition earlier this month.

Pettit, who is sponsored by Amiri – the Fareham-based construction company owned by his father, Grahame Pettit, first competed in the 2010 national windsurfing festival and won the under-four metre category.

A series of wins followed in 2012, in the sub-five metre category, before he became overall juniors winner last year.

He said: ‘This season has been great fun and I hope to do more next year, including the Professional Windsurfing Association event in Tenerife, school permitting!’
