Picture slideshow: A parkrun super show

It was a super show as Havant welcomed 20 first timers to the event and 12 were taking part in their first ever parkrun.

It was good weather with the rain holding off until after the run.

Hilary Schwager and Nicola Fowlie joined the 50 Club.

Alex Hancock, who is in the junior male age 11 to 14 category, joined the 100 Club.

He finished his 82nd run at Havant and his century also includes 13 at Southsea parkrun, three at Queen Elizabeth parkrun, one at Chichester and one at Bognor Regis.

Henry Piper and Neil Piper also joined the 100 Club as they completed the run together in a time of 23min 36sec.

It was Henry’s 94th parkrun at Havant. He is in the junior male age 10 category and has also run at Southsea, Penrose, Whitstable, Keswick, and twice at Osterley to complete his century.

Neil has completed 93 runs at Havant in his 100.

A large number of runners turned out in fancy dress superhero costumes, adding to the fun of the event as they celebrated with the new 100 Club members.

Fantastic pacers helped as 41 new personal bests were set with big thanks to the great team of volunteers.

Julian Middlewick, from Farlington, finished in first position with a time of 18.49.

Next to finish was Ryan Dillon, from Portsmouth, in 20.35 and Jane Harrop was third in 20.38.

Many people walk some or all of the 5k course and enjoy the fantastic, supportive atmosphere at each event as parkrun welcomes people of all ages and all fitness levels.

Fareham parkrun

After the successful first run it was the second edition of the Fareham parkrun at Cams Hall Estate.

A total of 152 runners completed the second event with 108 first timers.

Sophie Exton-Woodford, who is running her first marathon in London on Sunday was among those at the parkrun.

She is raising money for Rowans Hospice and was wearing a can of beer fancy dress costume.

Julian Manning, of Denmead Striders, was first over the line in 16.37 – a new course record.

Andy Simpson, finished second with James Sawyer third.

Libby Marchant, was first female over the line in 21.26, with Rebecca Seal second and Emma Burton third.
