Charity match ‘an incredible tribute’ to adored Gosport coach

PORTSMOUTH snooker league retained their inter league shield after a comprehensive win over Gosport and Fareham.

Gosport had gone into the second leg at Stoke Snooker Club with high hopes after winning the first match 10-8 at Craneswater Club in Southsea.

But Pompey fielded a strong side and hammered their rivals 14-4 on Saturday night.

This put the aggregate score at 22-14 to the city and meant they retained the trophy they won last year.

Pompey got off to a great start with captain Pascal Richard in great form winning 3-0, while youngster Jordan Winbourne won 2-1.

Pete Oughton, Scott Stoneage and Simon Munday all had wins. Gosport's only victory came from Mick Jurd, with Dave Coombs also putting in a good performance, knocking in a 62 break to win a frame.
