Portsmouth contingent aiming to complete Lakeside 5k Series in style

THE final race of the Lakeside 5k series takes place tonight (7.15pm).

It will be followed by the prize presentation and City of Portsmouth will be well to the fore.

Charlotte Bullard, Hattie Locke, Elizabeth Rose, Kate Simister, Steven Cross, Adam Kimber and Martin Williams are all in the mix for age-category prizes going into the final race at Lakeside North Harbour.

Havant’s Phil Western, Fareham’s Robert Morgan and Victory athlete David Howard are leading their respective categories.

City’s 15-year-old star Lachlan Wellington has already won the overall title as well as the under-15 boys’ category.

He has finished first in three races and his quickest time so far last month of 15min 26sec puts him top of the 5k road rankings in Britain by 22 seconds.

City are leading the Alexandra Sports Inter-Club Challenge by a comfortable margin over Southampton and Chichester Runners.

Nicole Ainsworth has won the under-15 girls’ title and leads the under-13 national rankings with her best time of 18.17.

Emma Montiel has won the women’s 40 category and Reg Ball has wrapped up success in the male-60 age group.

Portsmouth Joggers’ Pete Collins has won the male-40 category while Jane Collins has triumphed in the female-65 category.

Southampton’s Hannah Polden is the under-20 women’s champion and Tom Cully is the male under-20 winner.

Chichester duo Kim Nelson and Jane Harrop have won the women’s 50 and women’s 55 age groups respectively.

Entries are accepted on the night from 6pm to 7pm at Hilsea Lido.

The presentation will start after the race, around 8.15pm at Hilsea Lido.
