It’s the talk of racing and is set to take Glorious Goodwood to a whole new level.
A huge sponsorship deal with Qatar – the biggest sponsorship contract in British racing history – will see an extra £2m pt into prize money at Goodwood’s five-day festival this year, with the figure growing each year over a decade.
It has more than doubled the prize money on offer for the Sussex Stakes, the Nassau Stakes and six other leading races at the festival.
But how did the historic link-up come about – and what does it mean to the average race-goer?
Hear racecourse MD Adam Waterworth talk about the Qatar deal in our video interview, above, and see today’s (Jan 22) Chichester Observer to read much more about it – including the horse whose Goodwood win really got things moving.
