Vita Nova will bid to get her career back on track in the Listed Daisy Warwick Stakes (2.15pm) at Goodwood this afternoon.

The five-year-old Galileo mare – a stable-mate of Frankel at Sir Henry Cecil’s yard – chalked up a hat-trick after a triumphant debut at Kempton in June 2010.

She was then runner-up in her next three contests – the Listed Pinnacle Stakes, the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks and the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks.

However, she then disappointed at the Champions meeting at Ascot in October – finishing ninth in a Grade 2.

Now Vita Nova is aiming to rediscover her best form on the Downs.

She is expected to face eight rivals this afternoon, including local hope Western Pearl – who is trained by William Knight in Patching.

Shortly before the first of two Listed showdowns, the Betfred Goals Galore EBF Maiden Stakes (1.40pm) gets Goodwood’s summer campaign under way.

Five horses have been declared, with Richard Hannon – the track’s most prolific trainer in recent seasons – handing a debut to Jimmy Elder.

Eight contenders will attempt to get one over the handicapper in the Betfred The Bonus King Bingo Stakes (2.50pm) before the Lower Beeding handler Gary Moore saddles top weight Woolfall Treasure in the Betfred Mobile Sports Stakes (3.30pm).

Barefoot Lady is the top-rated contender in the Listed Conqueror Stakes (4.05pm).

However, Hannon’s three-year-old Esentepe will be hoping to make the most of her 8lb age allowance.

Pulborough’s Amanda Perrett saddles Sir Mike and Coup De Grace in the Median Auction Maiden Stakes (4.40pm).

And Goodwood’s first meeting of the season ends with the Collect totepool Bets At Betfred Shops Stakes (5.15pm).
