The Rocks had the better of the first half and took an early lead from the penalty spot. Harvey White was fouled in the area and Jimmy Muitt tucked his spot kick beyond the diving goalkeeper and just inside the left-hand post.

Whyte almost extended the visitors lead soon afterwards but was denied by a fine diving save. The home side levelled on 26 minutes and had the better of the second half.

The Rocks almost snatched the points 10 minutes from time when a Thomas Scutt volley came back off the crossbar. Though the Rocks slipped to ninth, they are two points adrift of the play-off places.

Worryingly for boss Jack Pearce, they suffered another two injury scares. Young Pompey loanee Brad Lethbridge had to be substituted in the first half after picking up a knock. And the man who replaced him, Mason Walsh, was himself replaced after the break by Tommy Scutt after he too was injured.

Bognor have had a succession of injuries this season, a number of them long-term. They will hope neither Lethbridge nor Walsh will be out for long but face a race to get them fit for two important home games coming up.

Enfield are the visitors to Nyewood Lane on Tuesday evening while Dorking Wanderers – now home to Jason Prior and Sami El-Abd – are there on Saturday.
