Carter: Crucial decisions did not go for Moneyfields in FA Cup defeat

Dave Carter felt Moneyfields were on the wrong end of some crucial decisions during the 3-2 defeat by Worthing in the FA Cup.

The Dover Road side were looking to move into the fourth qualifying round for the first time in their history.

But it was the Bostik League premier division high-flyers, however, who edged into the next round.

Moneys manager Carter felt his side didn't get the rub of the green.

He said: '˜If a few crucial decisions had gone our way we would have won it.

'˜It was that close. We had two Steve Hutchings' goals disallowed which we felt should have stood.

'˜One was ruled out for an offside that never was and the second for a push when Sam Pearce was just stronger.

'˜In the second half we took the game to them but their second goal from the penalty spot knocked the stuffing out of us a bit.

'˜We kept going to the end and pulled another goal back with five minutes to go.

'˜In the closing minutes we pushed and pushed but couldn't make the breakthrough.

'˜Over the 90 minutes we deserved to get at least a draw and a replay.'

The Sussex side took the lead at the half-hour mark but the hosts hit back to level before the break.

Conor Bailey produced a wonder strike, firing in a free-kick from near the touchline on half way.

Two goals in three minutes at the start of the second half, the first a penalty, rocked Moneyfields back on their heels.

Worthing were forced to replace their injured goalkeeper with an outfield player after a collision with Joe Briggs.

Lewis Fennemore set up a thrilling finale but an equaliser proved elusive.

Though disappointed to exit the competition Carter believes it has been great for the club.

He added: '˜The FA Cup is a fantastic competition and has been good for us.

'˜We have won £18,000 in prize money and that is a lifeline to a little club like ours.'
