Havant to approach final games as cup finals

The home side are defending an unbeaten record on their own patch and are desperate to maintain second spot with another win.

The surprise defeat at Chiswick in their last game allowed Tunbridge Wells to close the gap in the fight for the play-off spot.

‘The defeat at Chiswick has certainly focused our minds,’ said the Havant coach.

‘On paper Tunbridge have the easier finish so we cannot afford to make any slip ups.

‘If we can win our last four games and pick up bonus points in a couple of them then that could keep us in front.

‘Anything less and we could find ourselves pipped at the post.

‘It goes without saying that we need to remain unbeaten at home all season.

‘CS Rugby are a good side and they thumped Tottonians in their last game.

‘All our remaining games are cup finals for us.’

The home side are boosted by the return of some experienced figures in their front row.

Luke Marks, who has been out injured since Christmas, is fit to return.

Veteran Steve Cruddas is back at hooker.

More experience returns to the back row in the shape of Joe Davis, with Dan Mundam at number seven.

In the three-quarters, Knight is excited by the re-appearance of winger Harry Carr.

Carr has missed the whole of the season after having a knee re-construction.

Wayne John is to be preferred to Jake Hewitt at scrum-half.

Knight added: ‘There have only been a couple of slip ups, which shows how difficult it is to get out of this league.

‘It is a pressure time of the season, but other clubs will be feeling it.
