The 17-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion defender has joined for a month and arrived just 24 hours before the game.

Borough were beaten 2-1 by AFC Totton in the FA Trophy at Privett Park.

But it was an impressive start for Weaire who really shone.

Gosport player boss McAllister was impressed.

He told Gosport Borough's official website: '˜I thought Matthew was excellent, having met the lads for the first time for only an hour before the game.

'˜He slotted in like he had been here all season. He grew into the game and you can see why he is at Brighton because he is a very talented lad.

'˜He's going to have a great future in the game and we are lucky to have him. He's a class act when the ball is at his feet and his positioning is good.'
