Reds plan to beat '˜local heroes' Horndean

Fareham Town are planning to earn derby delight when they face Horndean in the Wessex League premier division at Cams Alders on Saturday (3pm).

The Deans beat Baffins Milton Rovers 2-0 in their last game and will be equally determined to keep their 'local hero' tag.

Pete Stiles insists it is a chance for Fareham to prove they are one of the top sides.

He said: '˜Horndean have been the top local team in the Wessex for a couple of years.

'˜They have done ever so well.

'˜We have a decent squad and have gone five games unbeaten in the league.

'˜Being a derby, players have played for both clubs and know each other very well.'

The home side are without Ed Plackett, who is suspended, while Nathan Paxton, Tom Settle and Lewis Plackett are unavailable.

Horndean boss Michael Birmingham is wary of the threat Fareham pose.

He said: '˜Fareham have some good, experienced players in their side.

'˜Their power at set-pieces is also something we have to remain aware of.

'˜We will be going there to surprise them with a few things they might not be expecting.'

AFC Portchester have to adapt to playing on a 3G pitch as they visit Hamworthy United (3pm).

Royals joint-manager Mick Catlin is not a great fan.

He said: '˜It isn't great but we have to get on with it.

'Our target is to stay in the top three and we need to keep winning to achieve that.'

Influential central midfield player Jake Morgan returns to the squad after suspension.

Baffins Milton Rovers go away to Brockenhurst.

United Services Portsmouth and Petersfield Town are in division one derby action at the Victory Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
