Two Jordan Rose goals helped steer the Hawks to a 3-1 FA Trophy win against a plucky Dorking Wanderers at Westleigh Park.

Dorking led after 16 minutes but Jason Prior equalised with a penalty before half-time.

Rose volleyed the Hawks in front a minute into the second half then headed home from a corner.

The home side were forced into changes because of injury and suspensions.

Mike Carter and Ed Harris were banned and Wes Fogden dropped to the bench as he wasn’t fully fit.

In came Theo Lewis and Jordan Rose.

Lee Bradbury started with three up front, with Matt Tubbs and Alfie Rutherford alongside Jason Prior.

In an early Hawks raid Lewis almost picked out Prior with a curling cross from the right. On seven minutes Lewis Taylor rose unchallenged to head over the top for the visitors.

At the other end a point-blank Tubbs header was kept out by the legs of goalkeeper Slavomir Huk.

The Isthmian premier visitors made the most of that let-off by taking a 16th-minute lead.

Matt Briggs was allowed to run three-quarters the length of the pitch before squaring to Giuseppe SOLE.

The ex-Hawk was left with a simple tap-in from almost on the goal line.

On 23 minutes Huk fouled Tubbs in the area to concede a needless penalty. PRIOR made no mistake with his spot-kick, driving the ball beyond the diving Huk into the bottom corner.

For the rest of the half the Hawks struggled to impose themselves on the game.

Fogden replaced the ineffective Rutherford at the start of the second half.

The Hawks took the lead a minute into the second period. Fogden crossed from the right and the ball was headed on for ROSE to volley in at the far post.

Rose was in action at the other end when he blocked a fierce goalbound volley from Taylor.

And ROSE extended the Hawks lead in the 62nd minute, rising above the Dorking defence to head powerfully home from a corner.

Six minutes later the hosts had Bradley Tarbuck sent off for a second yellow.

Widdrington replaced Tubbs on 73 minutes.

Luke Moore flashed a low drive narrowly past the post for the visitors.
