'˜Conditions need to be taken into consideration and we must tighten things up a bit.'

At the break the home side made changes to their forwards and from the restart applied more pressure on the visitors.

The forwards bundled over for a try early in the second period but that was to prove the only home success.

Wheaton added: '˜Eastleigh put in some great defensive work to keep us out.

'˜We tried hard but silly mistakes and taking wrong options cost us on the day.

'˜Our support play was much improved from the last game which was pleasing to see.

'˜If we can cut out the unnecessary errors and focus more on making the right decisions then our time will come.

'˜It was small margins yet again.'

In difficult conditions it was the home side who benefited from making the fewer mistakes.

Head coach James Allder remains upbeat and believes Petersfield will turn their fortunes around.

He said: '˜Despite losing, the players should be proud of all their hard work, commitment and effort.

'˜We were forced to field another different line-up.

'˜The players need to stay focused, keep believing in each other and results will come.'
