Gosport & Fareham show good signs although high-quality hosts punish mistakes

It was a case of what might have been for Gosport & Fareham as they lost 26-12 to Old Alleynians but they showed plenty to suggest they can start to climb London two south west.

With the scores at 12-12 it looked like struggling Gosport could go on for an upset victory. Unfortunately a couple of errors directly led to two scores as hosts Alleynians put the game out of reach at 26-12.

Gosport & Fareham head coach George Hillan saw his team punished.

But he knows they will get wins if they manage to perform at the same level without the mistakes against other sides.

He said: '˜If we play like that in our next few matches and are just a little more clinical in the danger zones I have no doubt we'll be climbing up the league.'

Wes Dugan and Dane Smallbone scored for the visitors with Dom Holling adding a conversion.
