Sailing race for training vessels set to return this weekend

A RACE organised by a Gosport sailing charity has will return this weekend.

The Small Ships Race will take place at Cowes, off the Isle of Wight, from 10am on Saturday, October 6.

Organised by the Association of Sail Training Organisations (Asto), the fixture will see more than half of the UK's sail training vessels gather for a one-day race around the Solent.

Most vessels entered are operated by charities which use sailing to teach young people life skills.

Among them is the Tall Ships Youth Trust, from Portsmouth, with its boat Tenacity of Bolton.
