BELLAIR secured promotion to the Portsmouth & District League top flight with a 7-2 win at Alexandra Bowls.

They overtook Copnor D who beat their B side 6-3.

Bellair went 5-1 ahead at the rinkside venue.

They won the two doubles thanks to Tony May, John Morrison and Paul Merrett doubles.

Copnor D had to settle for second place after a 6-3 success over the B team.

John Wyatt won both for the B’s but Dave Glover and Barry Mihell had the final say.

Pompey Royals crushed Cowplain C 7-1 to land the top prize in division three.

Jon Challacombe, Paul Tinsley and Chad Wainwright were all on target again and belong in a higher league.

A Dave Weedon singles victory and a late doubles success by Ray Axton and Brad Weedon proved to be the only bright spots for Cowplain.

Copnor F were beaten by the Cuestars 5-4 as their title dreams were dashed.

Callum White and Ashley Smith were spot on for the youngsters.

Rob Derry and Gary Green fought hard in response.

Craneswater Dandy nicked a 5-4 at Cowplain B despite a brace apiece from Ray Axton and Pete Gorvin.

In the top division Craneswater A whitewashed their club-mates in the Q side and finished well clear of the other runners.

Mike Talmondt hit a 60 break, Rob Kirby added a 37 and Pedro Ferguson, Mark Kirby, Steve Cole and skip Andy Boulton all won.

Copnor A got a one-point win against Portchester X to seal second spot.

Steve Toms and Scott Compton chalked up doubles again to thwart Neil Turp and Darren Inch.

Craneswater R beat Cowplain 5-4.

Chris Bishop and Chris Trim were the best home cueists erasing Steve Wilson’s brace.
