Mayfair Jesters proved they are no fools as they boosted their chances of reaching the Bob Lomax Memorial Trophy quarter- finals.

Paul West’s men demolished club rivals Mayfair Mixups 7-2 and now go top of group one.

The new format sees the Gosport & Fareham Snooker League cup competition played in World Cup-style groups.

It means the best two teams from each group will progress through into the quarter-finals.

LWMC Z lie second in group one after they narrowly beat last year’s finalists 147D 5-4.

There’s been no joy so far for Bramstokerz.

They have been left rooted to the bottom of the group after slumping to a 6-3 defeat against 147 Select.

In group two, 147 Legends stay top after beating Mayfair Fools 6-3.

They are now four points ahead of Stoke 155 who overcome Mayfair Masters 5-4.

The battle to progress as winners from group three is hotting up.

Hill Park B slaughtered HMS Collingwood 8-1, with Richard Elliot knocking in a run of 37.

The victory puts them joint top with Carry on Mayfair who edged Stoke B 5-4.

In group four, it is equally close. thumped LWMC Nomads 7-2, with Adam Bobat potting a 37 break.

The win puts them joint top with Stoke Sharks.
