Mike Talmondt has blown the Cuestars South of England Seniors Snooker Tour wide open with victory in Woking.

Copnor’s ex-professional recorded a second successive tournament win with a 2-1 defeat of title rival John Hunter in the fifth leg.

The 42-year-old’s top break of 82 was the highest at Woking Snooker Centre.

Hunter’s lead is 10 points going into the final leg at The Crucible Sports & Social Club in Newbury on April 26.

The Andover player, who is bidding for a fourth successive rankings title, said: ‘In the final, Mike continued the good form he showed throughout the day.

‘I’m looking forward to duelling with him at the final event for the title.’

Talmondt’s Copnor club-mate Scott Compton reached the semi-finals for the first time in his debut season.

And Hunter reckoned he was lucky to beat the Portsmouth talent 2-0 in the last four.

He said: ‘To get to the semis was a good achievement and, to be fair to him, I needed a lot of luck to beat him.’
