Street party in Portsmouth League

King Street Tavern pulled level on points with Apsley House after beating them 5-4 in Portsmouth Men's Summer League division two, writes Lee Todd.

Michael Chandler won the opening clash for King but they were soon trailing 4-1 as Paul Morgan, Graham Wheatley, Tom Debowski and Craig McCutcheon struc, with the latter notching an 18-dart leg and 130 finish.

But King refused to roll over as Jon Davison, Howard Price and James Elliott squared the match at 4-4.

They were then gifted the final set as a walkover for Matt Lovesry.

George & Dragon A's relegation from division three was confirmed when they went down 5-4 to Mermaid A, who moved out of the bottom two.

Philip Browne, Les Weston and Shane Plummer put George 3-1 up after Arnie Le Rouge took the opener.

Walkovers for Kalvin Fletcher and Bill Messenbird restored parity for Mermaid and Jamie Poulter made it 4-3.

Frank Woodward took the penultimate leg to keep George in the match but it was Connor Wheatcroft who won the decider.

Mermaid B moved within two points of division four's promotion places as they dispatched Stag 5-4.

Stag drew first blood through Matt Jeffery but the lead was shortlived as Colin Downs, Luke Roberts and Dan Sowdon propelled Mermaid into a 3-1 lead.

Brian Hammond halved the deficit before Martin Steel and Simon Carter wrapped up the match. Andy Dunn took a consolation for Stag, who took a walkover in the last.

Shearer Arms came from behind to beat Eastfield 5-4 in division one.

Eastfield took a 4-1 lead through Charlie Linkhorn, Julian Court, Paul Garland and Kevin Wilson, who hit a 101 game-shot. Sam Palmer provided the only resistance from Shearer.

But momentum then swung to Shearer as Del Thomson, Wes Farminer (15-darter), Bruce Baker and Dan Legg sealed the win.

Paul La Roche (Jolly Taxpayer C) threw a 17-darter. Darren Barnes (Lord Chichester B) notched a pair of 18-dart efforts, while Adam Fieldman (Jolly Taxpayer C) and Danny Smith (Admiral Drake B) also finished in 18.

Shane Mullins (Rose in June B) hit a 127 game-shot and Adam Limpscombe (Admiral Drake B) had a 122 finish. Lee Todd (Phoenix North End B) registered a 113 check-out.

Graham Clow (Druids Arms B) and Keith Mayne (Portland Arms) recorded 110 and 109 game-shots, respectively, and John Andrews (Stag B) finished with 106.

Mark Barnes (Stag B), Lee O'Donovan and Charlie Dunn (both Jolly Taxpayer C) all fired in maximums and Danny Browne (Stag B) scored a 160.
