Joe Davies is celebrating after claiming a bronze medal at the Swim England National Summer Meet in Sheffield.
The 15-year-old Fareham Nomads talent clinched the 50m backstroke medal by just 0.02 of a second.
Davies lowered his personal best by almost one second as he clocked a time of 29.02sec.
Nomads head coach Davi Ferreira said: ‘Joe had an excellent race.
‘He had a very good start, maintained his stroke through to the middle 20 to 25 metres and finished very strong.
‘Joe finished third in a very hard-fought race – with the fourth swimmer finishing just 0.02 seconds slower. A massive well done to Joe.’
A week earlier Davies raced at the British Summer National Championships in the 100m and 200m backstroke, also at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
He finished 20th in the 15-years age group in the former in a time of 1min 2.89sec.
And he followed that up with 18th in the 200m event after stopping the clock in 2.15.24 – another huge improvement on his personal best.
Ferreira added: ‘It was a great first experience at the British Summer National Championships for Joe.
‘There was a bit of nervousness but that is getting better as he begins to get used to the big stage.’
