Tap turn up the heat on rivals Thatchers

The Tap pulled level on points with Thatchers after beating them 6-3 in division four of the Portsmouth Men's Summer League.

Thatchers took a 3-0 lead with wins from John Richmond and Chris Lawrence alongside a walkover for Peter Lamb.

Momentum then swung to Tap and it was one-way traffic from there on as Chris Cobb Jnr, Steve Hansford, Steven Read, Scott Tucker, Ron Albury and Chris Head were all on the mark to propel them to victory.

Admiral Drake B stay top of division one following their 6-3 triumph over Lord Chichester B.

Mike Symes and Ricky Williams gave Drake a 2-1 lead with sets either side of a Chichester win from Darren Barnes who registered an 18-dart leg and 177.

Phil Harty, Adam Lipscombe and Danny Smith took the next three sets to bag the points for Drake, with Smith scoring 180.

Gary Collis added a sixth for Drake before Kevin Gilchrist and Mike Feaver took consolation sets for Chichester, including an 18-darter by Feaver.

Druids Arms B missed out on only their second win of the season in division two after Pelham Arms fought back to beat them 5-4.

Pelham took the opening set through Arthur Harmer but Tony Smith immediately hit back for Druids.

A pair of 18-dart legs from Danny Harmer edged Pelham back in front before Drudis put themselves in the driving seat with wins from Sean Etherington, Aaron Fitzgerald and Graham Clow.

But Pelham refused to roll over as Ben Rowley and Thomas Stillwell won sets to force a decider which was won by their team-mate Darren Mannell.

The battle to avoid the drop saw Leopold Tavern gain vital points in division three as they beat Froddington Arms B 5-4.

Len Eastland and Les Shipp put Leopold 2-1 up after Alan Miller won the opener for Froddington.

Ron Waters and Paul Lipscombe restored Froddington's lead but Leopold wasted no further time in taking the match as Andy Broadman, Ian Rogers and Norman Hollis gave them an insurmountable lead.

Ian Ogilvie won the last leg as a consolation for Froddington.

Dan Legg (Shearer Arms) threw a 17-dart leg and 115 game-shot and Graeme Coles (Meon) also had a 17 darter.

There were 18-darters from Andy Newcombe (Jolly Taxpayer C), Ian Pearce (Rose in June B) and Jon Davison (King Street Tavern) who also notched a 125 finish and 180.

Barry Gibson (Jolly Taxpayer C) hit a 140 game-shot, Steve Ockendon (Jolly Taxpayer C) checked-out on 124 and Chris Harradine (Rose in June B) and Neil Hallett (Druids Arms A) both finished on 100.

Lee O'Donovan (Jolly Taxpayer C), James Bedden (Oyster House A), Les Rance (Phoenix North End B), Graham Davies (Artillery Arms) and Anthony Plummer (George & Dragon A) all fired in maximums.
