A tennis club will stage an open day on Saturday as part of a national drive to encourage more people to take up the sport.
The Lee-on-the-Solent Tennis Squash and Fitness Club is taking part in the National British Tennis Weekend.
Visitors will be given free access to the club, including a barbecue and a chance to watch a ladies league match and try out the courts for themselves.
Players between 16 and 80 will be given a chance to sample play from midday to 3pm. A session for 3-7 year olds will be held from 1pm to 2pm and one for 8-11 year olds from 2pm and 3pm. Racquets and advice will be provided.
A session for 12-15 year olds will be included in a second open day in July, although regular coaching is always on offer for that age group.
Tennis coach Matt Rogers said: ‘It’s a great opportunity to see what a friendly club we are, and to discover how much fun it is to play tennis.’
