Lauren Howard starred on a tour of France with two major singles titles.

The former Bay House School student, from Lee-on the-Solent, took crowns in Normandy and Hauteville.

Howard, who trains at the Alverstoke Tennis Club with former top British player Chris Wilkinson, is currently on a three-year tennis scholarship at West Liberty University in West Virginia, America.

She has spent the summer preparing for and playing a series of tournaments in France – aiming to cement herself in the top 100 of the world rankings.

Meanwhile, the £500 prize money from her efforts will be very useful in her academic activities.

The 19-year-old is the fourth player from the Chris Wilkinson stable currently studying in America.

The others on tennis scholarships are Peter Francis and Hannah Keeling, from Eastleigh, and Michael Rawat, from Gosport.
