There was more Wheelers success in the road bike event – with Kirsty McSeveney the fastest woman in 31.48.

Matthew Buckley, of Andover Wheelers, finished in 24.27 to win by three seconds from Perfs Pedal runner-up Mitch Webber.

Elsewhere, George Stainton-Ellis, 21, has suffered a setback in his recovery from a crash at the Perfs Pedal.

The Waterlooville rider, who is a member of Pedal Heaven’s Excel Academy, had a CT scan on his broken shoulder blade.

And it revealed a displacement, ruling him out of action for a further fortnight before more examinations.
