EMMA BONNEY ran in a break of 77 and still lost to Copnor C’s Phil Ledington in the latest Portsmouth & District League matches.
However, the ladies’ world champion did have to give him a three figure start in her 80-point loss.
The result points to providing a cracking final in the Presidents Cup when Ledington defends his title off scratch in a race to 600 points.
Copnor C won the match 5-2.
Captain John V. Baldachino, Dave Lawrence and Barry Mihell were all on target to seal the impressive victory for Craneswater Z.
Ian Carter led his side well with support from Lee Paice who beat former champion Steve Kearn as he just cleared his handicap.
Copnor A have high hopes of the runners-up spot but they were pipped 4-3 by their B side who now occupy second spot after their fifth success.
Mick Hall, Scott Compton and Mark Tillison were on target for the A’s.
Tillison enjoyed an impressive run of 54 as he showed his quality.
But John Oldfield, Trev Sanders and Matt Hannam had the last laugh as they made their experience count for the B side.
Leigh Park went back to the top of the division two table as they beat Copnor F 4-3.
They won four of the six games but lost the bonus point by over 60.
Gary Green and Gary Wilton both won by 90 to take the aggregate.
The Workies won the first three with wins by Richard Burnett, Danny Lumsden and Bill Parsons.
They had to wait until Steve Scott grabbed the last by 150-138 over Darren Harper.
Pompey Royals notched an impressive 6-1 victory at Cowplain B.
Chad Wainwright won easily then Paul Chivers nicked a three pointer over Doug Powell.
Dave Chivers won another before Will Garrett stopped the charge at 3-1.
Paul Tinsley and Jon Challacombe completed the rout with the last two for the Royals.
Copnor Xcels seem to lose more than their fair share of matches on aggregate.
It was the same story against Craneswater R as Chris Bishop, Chris Trim and Andy Carter stole it.
Andy Chambers, Dave Wheeler and Tony Horten were the scorers for the Copnor outfit.
