America's Cup charity offers up free sailing sessions for Portsmouth youngsters

FREE sailing sessions are to be offered to young people across the Portsmouth area.

The 1851 Trust, the official charity of Portsmouth-based Land Rover BAR, in partnership with the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, will be providing taster sessions on the water throughout the summer holidays.

The Portsmouth Sailing Project will be hosted by Portsmouth Sailing Club from Monday, July 25 to Friday, August 26.

Jo Stocks, chief executive officer of the 1851 Trust, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for more young people from Portsmouth and the surrounding areas to get out on the water, learn about sailing and most importantly have fun in a safe and friendly environment.

‘One of the 1851 Trust’s key aims is to use the inspiration of our patron, Sir Ben Ainslie and the team to inspire and motivate a new generation into sailing by breaking down barriers to participation.’
