The Shires, the first UK country act to break the top 10 album chart, boy band Union J and this year’s X Factor finalists Reggie n Bollie will wow crowds at the Cosham family music spectacle.

It comes after the show’s organisers revealed 90s group 5ive, street dance troupe Diversity, X Factor-star Sam Bailey, The Hoosiers and Scouting for Girls will perform over the two-day event, on King George V Playing Fields, on April 30 and May 1.

About 4,000 tickets have so far been snapped up since the first set of acts was announced last Monday, and there’s still plenty up for grabs.

It’s hoped 20,000 visitors will come each day to enjoy the show, which also features family entertainment including a Big Top with a petting zoo, demonstrations from karate and dance troupes and a fun fair.

Up to 40 local acts will perform and craft and street food stalls and bars will go on the field.

Portsmouth Summer Show co-organiser Andy Marsh said momentum is building around the occasion.

He said: ‘We’re really pleased with how many tickets have gone so far, considering it’s been a cold January.

‘We don’t want to be too cool or niche, it’s just about creating a nice atmosphere for people.

‘There are some guilty pleasures in the line-up, the kind of acts you’ll enjoy after a few songs and a beer.

‘It’s great because the kids will enjoy a group like Diversity, but the adults will secretly like them too because of seeing them on the X Factor.

‘We are really focusing on the fact this is a family-fun event.’

Local acts confirmed for the show include Portsmouth singer-songwriter Jerry Williams, tribute acts Fleetingwood Mac and the Bog Rolling Stones, Beth Oliver Band, Paige Monroe, The Racketeers, Marley Blandford and Rhythm of the 90s.

Tickets are now on sale with prices being £10 per day for adults, £5 for anyone aged five to 15 and it is £1 for under-fives. Adult prices will rise to £15 nearer the time.
